I have been passionately involved with teaching music for over 16 years. This initially started when I was asked to teach a course at Brighton College of Technology (in the UK) on folk guitar, that was in 1991. I subsequently became a member of the teaching body at BCT for the next 8 years, during which time I devised the syllabus for a number of music courses, covering the subjects of; jazz, funk, blues and popular composition (deconstructing the compositions of Hoagy Carmichael, Carole King, Chuck Berry, Burt Bacharach, Lennon & McCartney and many more inbetween). I have taught at a Maximum Security Prison in the UK and a residential Special Needs school and have extensive experience of working with children and adults with autism. I was a member of the teaching staff on Herbie Flowers' Rockshops.
I have balanced a career as a working musician with teaching and am able to share my vast experience with my students. I teach from my studio in Chapel Hill, NC, offering tuition in guitar (acoustic or electric), bass guitar (including fretless bass), songwriting/composition and keyboards.
I tailor lessons to each student and cater to the individual's interests and aspirations.
If you are interested in taking lessons, please send me an email with a little background about yourself and your musical goals. Please include a telephone number.
